As today’s first snippet reveals, it’s a fairly comedic affair, following JCVD as he goes about his morning routine – be it munching down pop tarts or scooping up the paper aboard his segway scooter. Indeed, it evokes memories of Van Damme’s 2008 pic JCVD, swapping out the drama of a bank robbery for something much more light-hearted and refreshingly self-aware, with scores of references to Van Damme’s movie catalog littered in today’s trailer.

Amazon Prime subscribers can cast their vote over a number of half-hour comedies today, August 19, with Jean-Claude Van Johnson finding itself among that roster. Whether the meta series has a future on the platform will be told in time, but at the very least, the pilot episode ought to tickle fans of ’80s action cinema and JCVD in particular.
