Actress Jordana Brewster has joined the cast of Fox’s upcoming TV reboot of the popular Lethal Weapon action franchise. Brewster is set to play Dr. Maureen “Mo” Cahill, who’s described as a straight-shooting LAPD hostage negotiator/therapist who has to deal with the turmoil caused by the series’ new version of Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh.

The first news about the Lethal Weapon reboot came last year, where it was confirmed that the show will be a full-on reboot and not a sequel series like Minority Report (a movie-turned-tv-show also produced at Fox). A few weeks ago it was announced that Damon Wayans was cast in the role of Danny Glover’s Roger Murtaugh.

Here’s the official synopsis of the reboot:

“When Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (not yet cast) suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayans), who, having recently suffered a ‘minor’ heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.”

One silver lining on the dark reboot cloud is that one of Chuck‘s executive producers, Matthew Miller, has written the pilot script for Lethal Weapon and will be an executive producer on the new show as well. Not so good news is that McG will direct the pilot – he recently started off Freeform’s Shadowhunters on a befuddling, disorienting sour note.
