Kevin Williamson – the creator of Dawson’s Creek and the Scream film franchise – has secured a late-season pilot order from CBS, for a drama about stalking. The as-yet-untitled series will focus on a pair of detectives working in the Threat Management Unit of the LAPD, and will be both written and executive produced by Williamson under the banner of his Warner Bros Television based company, Outerbanks Entertainment.

The news of Williamson’s latest TV pilot comes hot on the heels of the second season debut of The Following – his dark and disturbing serial killer drama on Fox, starring Kevin Bacon. He continues to serve as executive producer on that show, as well as on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries – now in its fifth season. If picked up, his new drama will give him three shows on the air, which is pretty impressive.

This is also the third pilot order for CBS this season. In addition to the Kevin Williamson stalking drama, they will develop Madam Secretary – a show about a busy US Secretary Of State, created by Barbara Hall (Joan Of Arcadia) and executive produced by Morgan Freeman – and NCIS: New Orleans, which will be the second spin-off from NCIS (itself a spin-off from JAG), after NCIS: Los Angeles began in 2009.
