Constantine on Legends of Tomorrow

Legends Of Tomorrow Won’t Change Constantine

While his solo series may have been unfortunately cancelled by NBC a few years back, it’s been exciting to see Matt Ryan reprise his role of John Constantine, be it on various other TV shows or in animated movies. Actually, we’ve been quite spoiled in recent memory, as he’s appeared several times on Legends of Tomorrow, and is slated to become a series regular as of season 4.

Actually, we’ve been quite spoiled in recent memory, as he’s appeared several times on Legends of Tomorrow, and is slated to become a series regular as of season 4.

Funny enough, it appears as though the fan favorite demonlogist may not have his own quarters on the Waverider next year. I mean, it’d only make sense if it ends up happening because he needs a place to sleep, but executive producer and showrunner Phil Klemmer sounds like he wants to preserve the character’s mystique as much as possible:

“Personally, I can’t imagine Constantine having quarters on the Waverider. I want to keep him Constantine. I don’t want to ever have a scene of him having to do his laundry because to me, guys like Constantine, they always have clean clothes. Who knows where they come from? I don’t want to see that scene.”

As Klemmer’s conversation with ComicBook.com continued, it became apparent that he doesn’t want to water down Constantine in the slightest, even though he’ll be part of an ensemble going forward. And when it comes to where he’ll bunk, it sounds like he may circle back to a setting we were recently introduced to:

“That apartment of his that we his last episode” might prove to be a space where the Legends can go to find Constantine, Klemmer hinted. “That was just like an episodic set that was built just for that episode. As soon as I saw that severed foot chicken storyline, it showed Constantine [in a different light]. Most people don’t think of him as being a funny guy but I think that’s the trick of our show. I don’t want to de-fang him or de-cool him in a way. I don’t want him to have to accommodate being a Legend. I think it’s up to the Legends to tolerate John Constantine for who he is.”

Well, Klemmer and company have the next few months to sort out that situation, but before then, be sure to catch Constantine in the Legends Of Tomorrow season finale that’ll air next Monday, April 9 on The CW.
