San Diego Comic-Con is little over a week away at this point, and sure enough, the Powers That Be over at Marvel – and indeed every other major studio and network – are prepping to showcase their wares for the remainder of 2016 and beyond.

On the heels of Daredevil‘s gripping second season, it is Luke Cage who will take up residence on Netflix later this year, and ahead of SDCC 2016 kicking into gear, Marvel has unveiled key art for the Mike Colter-fronted series.

Hailing from TV Insider, the stark, minimalist artwork is an effective tease, directing attention to Colter’s musclebound, seemingly impenetrable hero more than anything else. Following up on his first appearance in Jessica Jones late last year, Colter’s Hero for Hire is the third member of Marvel’s Defenders family to get his own standalone series, with Iron Fist poised to leap onto the streaming service in early 2017.

Speaking about the poster reveal, Marvel’s chief creative officer Joe Quesada noted that all SDCC attendees who drop by the studio’s booth can pick up the artwork.

“There’s always great pressure with superhero posters,” Quesada said. “You’ve got one shot to encapsulate a character with a pose that’s provocative and that you hope will someday be iconic.”

Mike Colter’s Hero for Hire will make his mighty debut on September 30 when all episodes of Luke Cage‘s inaugural season premiere via Netflix. Simone Missick, Frank Whaley, Mahershala Ali, Theo Rossi, Alfre Woodard, and MCU stalwart Rosario Dawson also star.
