Lynda Carter’s Returning To Supergirl For Season 4

Supergirl has always been great for bringing in actors with a history in the DC universe. Its legacy castings have included Smallville's Erica Durance, Laura Vandervoort and, most recently, Sam Witwer as well as Lois & Clark's Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher. Probably the most fan-pleasing, though, is the appointment of Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter, as none other than the President of the United States, Olivia Marsdin.

If you’re hoping to see more of her, we’ve got good news, as the iconic actress has announced that she’s set to return to Supergirl at some point in season 4. Carter shared the news on her Twitter account, where alongside a behind the scenes image of herself and star Melissa Benoist, she wrote that she loved working with the Girl of Steel and was “delighted” to be coming back as President Marsdin.

This is a big deal, as Carter’s only made three appearances on Supergirl so far, all of which occurred back in season 2. Within those sparse guest spots, though, she still got her own intriguing character arc, as it was revealed that Marsdin was actually an alien in disguise who was doing her best to make Earth a safe haven for other refugee aliens. Last time she was seen, she worked with Supergirl and the D.E.O. to stop the Daxamite invasion.

It’s also worth pointing out that Marsdin’s press secretary is fan favorite Cat Grant, as played by Calista Flockhart. Like Carter, she’s yet to return to the show in the flesh since the season 2 finale, so hopefully Marsdin’s comeback also means that we’ll be seeing Kara’s former boss again in season 4. After all, we still need to watch Cat admit to Kara that she knows she’s really the Girl of Steel.

We’ll keep you posted if any further details on Carter’s role surface, but in the meantime, you can psyche yourself up for Supergirl‘s return to The CW on Sunday, October 14th.
