While Iron Fist is next up for Marvel and Netflix, The Defenders is set to hit the online streaming service this summer and excitement is already at an all-time high. It’s easy to see why, too, because regardless of how little we know about the series as of right now, seeing these four street-level superheroes come together for the first time promises to be something quite special.
In the latest official image from the eight-part show, we finally get to see Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock meet Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. The fact that the Man Without Fear has removed his glasses indicates that this is probably a behind the scenes image, though it’s possible that Murdock is showing the private detective his eyes to prove that he is, in fact, blind (despite secretly being Daredevil). What the lawyer will make of Jessica is hard to say, but that’s a big part of what makes The Defenders so very exciting – seeing all these characters interact with each other.
As for when we’ll see all four of the heroes together in one shot (not counting the promotional photos from EW), well, we’re not sure when that’ll happen. The show was filmed on location in New York City, but the team was never spotted all in the same place at the same time. That’s a moment which Marvel is probably saving for somewhere down the road, though with a teaser trailer no doubt on the way at some point in the next month or two, we could very well get a look at The Defenders assembled sooner rather than later.
