Don’t Mess With Bonnie & Clyde In New Teaser Trailer

I swear, every time I turn around there's another remake that no one ever asked for or wanted. I guess we're all just going to have to suck it up and deal with it, because no matter what people say, they're just going to keep rolling these things out. The latest is actually a a two-part television mini-series from a partnership between A&E, Lifetime and History (which should give you some idea about what we're in for), and it's all about Bonnie & Clyde.

I swear, every time I turn around there’s another remake that no one ever asked for or wanted. I guess we’re all just going to have to suck it up and deal with it, because no matter what people say, they’re just going to keep rolling these things out. The latest is actually a a two-part television mini-series from a partnership between A&E, Lifetime and History (which should give you some idea about what we’re in for), and it’s all about Bonnie & Clyde.

Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger take on the iconic roles as a badass 1930s gangster couple who go on bank-robbing rampage. You know the story; if you don’t I hope that you’ll go and rent Arthur Penn’s original film Bonnie & Clyde, starring Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway and Gene Hackman.

I’m not so certain that I can advocate this remake of Bonnie & Clyde, I’m sorry to say. While Hirsch and Grainger have an interesting look together, the teaser trailer makes the whole set-up look fairly chintzy and low-budget. Grainger in particular is not delivering her lines with any sort of conviction in this teaser, which gives me pause concerning the rest of the production. There are some other excellent character actors on hand too, including William Hurt and Holly Hunter, which might be interesting, but really it’s a case of ‘who cares?’ While the 1967 film doesn’t have a corner on the story of Bonnie and Clyde, why should we take the time to watch a new version of something that was done so very well once before?

Still, if this is your cup of tea, then you’re more than welcome to it. You watch the Bonnie & Clyde teaser below, and let us know if you think it’s worth the time in the comments.

Bonnie & Clyde will come at your TV with both barrels on December 8th and 9th.
