Earlier this week, Fox piqued our attention with the first teaser of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) exploring the mysterious underground lair beneath Wayne Manor. And though it isn’t quite the Batcave yet, stumbling upon the budding base of operations will still act as a defining milestone on Bruce’s path to becoming The Caped Crusader.

In today’s teaser, we get a glimpse of Bruce and Alfred poking and prodding in the top-secret lair, picking up right after the events from the tail-end of season 1. Here’s what Mazouz had to say about the moment his lead character steps foot on the dusty den.

“It changes everything in Bruce’s life. It changes how he sees Alfred, the criminal side of Gotham, even how he sees his parents. It’s definitely not the Batcave. What is down there are clues to Thomas Wayne’s secret life and what he was trying to do before being killed.”

With a September premiere date firmly in its sights, the Gotham news has been arriving thick and fast in recent weeks. Prior to today’s media dump, Michael Chiklis was unveiled as Captain Nathaniel Barnes, while the network has subverted expectations with its interpretation of DC pyromaniac, Firefly, casting Michelle Veintimilla in the role of Bridgit Pike.

Gotham will return on Monday, September 21 for its sophomore season, and to stay one step ahead of the game, you can get acquainted with cast members both old and new via the gallery below.
