New Gotham Featurette Offers First Look At Ra’s al Ghul

Although Bruce Wayne has yet to fully mature, Gotham has wasted no time when it comes to utilizing the greatest villains the Batman mythos has to offer. Having already been introduced to the likes of Riddler, Penguin, Mr. Freeze and a series stealing proto-Joker, it shouldn't come as any surprise that the Demon's Head join the party.

In fact, next Monday’s highly anticipated season finale will mark the debut of the man behind the Court of Owls and League of Shadows, Ra’s al Ghul. Played by veteran actor Alexander Siddig, this version of one of the Dark Knight’s deadliest foes may be the most comic book accurate depiction to appear in live action – even more so than Matt Nable’s portrayal on Arrow. Well, except for his lack of sinister-looking points on his beard. To date, only Liam Neeson and the faux Ra’s in Ken Watanabe boasted them in Batman Begins. Sure, it may sound silly to the average Joe, but it’s part of the character’s trademark look – and if I once grew them out, then surely a screen actor can, right?

Facial hair aside, the costuming and general look are all on point in the featurette, as is having him hang out in the vicinity of a glowing Lazarus Pit. Some purists may scoff at him meeting up with Bruce before he dons cape and cowl, but their meeting up before the hero truly embarks on his journey is nothing new, forcing us to have you recall the aforementioned Batman Begins.

For more information regarding Gotham‘s two-hour finale, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

With the deadly virus spreading throughout the city, the search for the antidote continues, as Fish Mooney (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith), The Riddler and Penguin reveal plans of their own.
