“Penance” Comes In The Form Of New Arrow Images

I must say that Arrow certainly isn't pulling any punches this year. In an effort to rebound from a divisive fourth season and to keep up with sister shows such as The Flash and Supergirl, the series has not only returned to its visceral roots, but also culled together several characters that are appearing in live action for the first time.

I must say that Arrow certainly isn’t pulling any punches this year. In an effort to rebound from a divisive fourth season and to keep up with sister shows such as The Flash and Supergirl, the series has not only returned to its visceral roots, but also culled together several characters that are appearing in live action for the first time.

This new batch of images taken from tomorrow’s episode, “Penance,” capture what are sure to be two intense situations, the first of which will see Oliver and Lyla join forces to break Diggle out of prison. I’m well aware that the false charges against Diggle will be an ongoing thread, but springing him from the clink is actually quite necessary for the series’ sake because not many fans will be content to see a beloved character sitting in a prison cell for months. And, hopefully, we’ll see him suiting up in his Spartan gear before long.

While that goes down, the recruits look to be hunting Tobias Church on their own. Young Justice fans will want to take note that Artemis is already embracing life as an archer, so that is definitely a plus. Wild Dog devotees, however, may want to brace themselves as this episode’s trailer (embedded below) teases a grim fate for the burgeoning vigilante.

For more details, check out the official synopsis below:

Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Anderson) team up on a secret mission for Diggle (David Ramsey). Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) finds out and disapproves of the plan and opts to stay behind. When Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman) launches a deadly assault against the city, Felicity must decide if she wants to send the recruits out sans the Green Arrow.

Arrow airs on Wednesday nights on The CW.
