If Ali’s solo act wasn’t enough to convince the Liars that some things never change, her sneaking around should be a pretty alarming indicator. Spencer (Troian Bellisario) takes a page our of Ezra’s (Ian Harding) book and decides it’s better to act on your suspicions than not know what’s going on in your own backyard – literally. When Spencer’s hidden camera pics up Ali sneaking around after dark instead of Melissa (Torrey DeVitto), it acts as the perfect excuse to gather all the Liars in the same place before the writers expose A’s new agenda.
A is clearly singling out Hannah (add that to Hannah’s list of current woes), and does so by means of text message. This isn’t the first time that A sent a message that wasn’t all-inclusive, but it adds to the urgency that the Liars are already feeling. Viewers are probably right to suspect that it stemmed from Hannah’s recent conversation with Sydney (Chloe Bridges), it seems like the obvious choice, but the Pretty Little Liars writers have played coy before, so this could also be a convenient set-up.
This brings us to another convenient feature of tonight’s episode, the absence of Eddie Lamb (Reggie Austin) at his meeting with Ezra. Eddie always seems to know more than what he’s letting on. This is evident by his reaction to seeing Aria (Lucy Hale) at Radley. But, for the most part, he appears to genuine in his interest to help others – the Liars included. Why set up a meeting with Ezra if he was just planning to bail? Viewers have another week to speculate, but best guess is that he either was silenced permanently or someone got to him and convinced him that it was in the best interest of his self-preservation to keep quiet.
