Following the attack of a White Martian tonight, CBS has released a first look at next week’s instalment of Supergirl. Like Arrow and The Flash before it, the series is really embracing the comics now, and that’s evident from the fact that they’re bringing Bizarro into this world so soon.

Here’s the synopsis for the episode – which is rather appropriately titled “Bizarro” – courtesy of CBS:

Kara faces off against her mirror image when Bizarro (Hope Lauren), a twisted version of Supergirl, sets out to destroy her. Also, Kara grows closer with Cat’s son, Adam (Blake Jenner), on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Feb. 1 (8:00-9:00 PM) on the CBS Television Network.

Hope Lauren plays the girl in the coma who Maxwell Lord has been working on in Supergirl, and this synopsis confirms that he’s going to transform her into Bizarro. Whether she’ll be a one off villain or a recurring threat in the series moving forward remains to be seen, but this is a very interesting direction to take the character in.

This promo also confirms that Melissa Benoist will be playing the villain for at least some of the episode, although it appears as her form will break down throughout as she slowly becomes more and more like her comic book counterpart.

Overall, this looks like a fun chapter of the series, and hopefully we’ll learn more about Bizarro when Supergirl returns next Monday.
