With just a little over two months left to go before the fourth season of Game of Thrones premieres, anticipation couldn’t be higher. We’ve already seen an exciting trailer in addition to a few behind the scenes pics, but now HBO has released the first official batch of photos, showing us a multitude of beloved characters (and some not so beloved) in all their glory.

As a companions piece to the photos, we also have a new teaser for the upcoming season four special Game of Thrones: Ice and Fire – A Foreshadowing, featuring a few bits of new footage. Most of it’s what we’ve seen before, but you also get some quick snippets of the actors talking about their characters and what to expect. I think Kit Harington describes it very well when he says it’s the most action-packed season they’ve had yet.

For those of you who haven’t read the book, I can only imagine what’s running through your head in regards to what will happen next season. After the events of the Red Wedding, it seems like all hope is lost for the Starks and that the Lannisters have prevailed at last, but without going into any detail, I’ll tell you that the next season holds a number of surprises as well. Indeed, there were so many that I had to keep picking my jaw up off the floor while reading the novel. As I’ve said before, if they do this right (and there’s little doubt that they will), this could be one of the best seasons of television we’ve seen in a long time.

Game of Thrones season four, based on the latter half of George R.R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords, premieres on April 6th at 9pm on HBO.

Check out the stills and teaser below and let us know how excited you are for the return of Game of Thrones in the comments!
