Firestorm in Legends of Tomorrow

Established Arrowverse Character To Replace Firestorm On Legends Of Tomorrow

It's been an important couple of weeks for the Waverider crew on Legends of Tomorrow. Firstly, in last week's "Crisis on Earth-X" crossover, Dr. Martin Stein tragically died when helping his friends fight the Nazis from another universe. The following week, in the show's midseason finale, his Firestorm partner Jefferson "Jax" Jefferson decided to quit the team, too.

The two halves of Firestorm were founding member of the Legends and so, they leave a big gap to be filled. In an intriguing revelation, though, the show’s exec producer has explained that a hero already familiar to Arrowverse viewers will take their place on the time machine. Marc Guggenheim told ComicBook.com that “a previously established character from the Arrowverse” would be joining Legends of Tomorrow next year.

“We do have a plan for how to replace Firestorm on the bridge, and it’s a really cool one,” he said. “It’s one we’re really excited about. There’s really like two empty chairs on the Waverider. So we do have a game plan. We’ve always had a game plan. I just can’t talk about the game plan. The CW publicity will determine when we get to unleash that bit of news.”

There are a few choices that leap out as potential new Legends. For one, we know that Matt Ryan is reprising his fan favourite role as John Constantine in the midseason premiere, with more appearances likely to come after that. Likewise, Russell Tovey just joined the Arrowverse as Ray Terrill AKA The Ray in “Crisis on Earth-X,” ahead of his own animated webseries.

The one fans will most want to see join the Legends, though, is Wally West’s Kid Flash. Keiynan Lonsdale’s character exited his regular role on The Flash earlier this season for vague reasons and viewers have been calling for him to appear on Legends ever since. We previously theorized that he could jump on over to DC’s upcoming Titans show instead, but a Legends role would be more likely.

Then again, there are plenty more where these guys come from. Maybe it’s Roy Harper/Arsenal? Or John Wesley Shipp’s Jay Garrick? Or Jesse Quick? The list goes on, but let us know who you’d like to see join Legends of Tomorrow in the comments section down below.
