The first season of Legends of Tomorrow was met with mixed reviews, but season 2 has been considerably better so far. Part of that’s because the show’s been throwing huge twists and turns at fans pretty much each and every week, with the biggest being the villainous transformation of Rip Hunter.

Left without his memories after saving the team in the premiere, the Reverse-Flash and his Legion of Doom soon tracked him down and reprogrammed his mind so that he would do their bidding. Now, the Legends have him back and they’re hoping to travel into his subconscious in order to return Rip to his old self as their leader and the man who knows more about time travel than anyone else.

For more on what to expect from this episode of Legends of Tomorrow – titled “Land of the Lost” – here’s the official synopsis:

After capturing Rip (Arthur Darvill), he forces the Waverider to crash, leaving the Legends stuck seventy million years in the past. Ray (Brandon Routh) leads Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and Nate (Nick Zano) to recover a vital piece of the ship. In an effort to get the “good” Rip back, Rory (Dominic Purcell) suggests they enter Rip’s mind, but what Sara (Caity Lotz) and Jax (Franz Drameh) discover in his subconscious is not pleasant and they must fight evil versions of themselves. Meanwhile, Nate and Amaya continue to get closer, but it could cause serious ramifications. Victor Garber also stars. Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Ray Utarnaachitt.

Overall, “Land of the Lost” sounds like another fun instalment of Legends of Tomorrow, and the photos above point to Ray Palmer having some fun while being stuck in prehistoric times. Rip, meanwhile, doesn’t appear to be enjoying the process, and as fun as it’s been to see the former Captain of the Waverider let his evil side out, having him back to his old self will be no bad thing.

We’ll find out what’s in store for him when this episode of Legends of Tomorrow airs next Tuesday following The Flash.
