Robbie Amell Weighs In On The Chances Of The Original Firestorm Returning To The Flash

Firestorm was an exciting addition to the first season of The Flash, but fans of Ronnie Raymond were left reeling when the character was killed off in the season 2 premiere. Many suspected that he had been left stranded on Earth-2 after closing the breach above Central City, but it didn't take long until Ronnie was replaced by Jefferson Jackson.

Firestorm was an exciting addition to the first season of The Flash, but fans of Ronnie Raymond were left reeling when the character was killed off in the season 2 premiere. Many suspected that he had been left stranded on Earth-2 after closing the breach above Central City, but it didn’t take long until Ronnie was replaced by Jefferson Jackson.

Alongside Martin Stein, he’s the new Firestorm in Legends of Tomorrow, but is there a chance that Earth-1’s Ronnie could make a return? Robbie Amell certainly hopes so.

“Well the nice thing is when you’re dead in that universe there is always another Earth, but I think that version [Earth-1] of Ronnie is dead because he sacrificed himself to save the city, but you know there is always Earth-3, Earth-4, Earth-5…”

So, the Ronnie we knew is gone, but at least the door is open to another version showing up. We’ve already seen Amell play Earth-2’s Deathstorm, but it turns out that the actor isn’t fully committed to the DC Comics brand. In fact, he’s open to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe should the opportunity arise somewhere down the line.

“No, I have no loyalties. [DC has] killed me a couple of times, and I’ll always gladly go back. But, at the same time, I’m a huge fan of Marvel movies. I like what they’re doing. It has less to do with it being Marvel or DC and more just being a character that I’m interested in and speaks to me.”

It would definitely be nice to see Ronnie return to The Flash, especially as Caitlin Snow could do with her husband’s support as she struggles with her newfound Killer Frost abilities. Unfortunately, a return for this version of Firestorm in the near future is probably unlikely, but at least Amell’s open to the idea.
