Sons Of Anarchy Renewed For Season 5

Sons Of Anarchy Renewed For Season 5Days after it was announced that the Golden Globe-winning drama Sons Of Anarchy will finish off season four with episode 11 running for an extended 90 minutes and episode 12 running potentially for two hours, it has been reported that FX has renewed Sons Of Anarchy for season five. FX also announced Sons Of Anarchy will run 13 episodes again for the fifth season.

Sons Of Anarchy is currently the #1 “scripted drama series on basic cable” and is “the highest-rated series ever on FX with an average of 5.8 million total viewers and 3.9 million adults 18-49” this season. These numbers are up 30% and 26%, respectively, from season three.

The show is classified by many, myself included, as one of the best shows on television, mainly due to the powerful stories created by Kurt Sutter and the amazing acting from Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff and Ron Perlman. Not to mention – it has one of the best supporting casts in television history.

Earlier today, FX president John Landgraf made an announcement about extending Sons Of Anarchy, saying:

Everyone at FX is very grateful to Kurt Sutter, his many writing, directing and producing collaborators and his masterful cast for making such a compelling and beautifully crafted show… It is no small challenge to bring the themes of a  great, ancient play like Hamlet into a wholly original television setting and to tell this complex story in a way that is both riveting and accessible to a broad audience.

Sons Of Anarchy airs Tuesday night, at 10 p.m., on FX. Let us know what you think in the comments.
