Coming by way of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s eponymous comic book series, the show follows Christian Walker and his partner in superhero crime, Deena Pilgrim (played by Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward). Specializing in all things out of the ordinary, the pair are tasked with keeping the superpowered denizens of their city in check.

Powers marks the first slice of original television from Sony as the Japanese giant looks to compete with the medium’s heavy-hitters: Netflix, Hulu and the like. To date, the company has greenlit one season of the crime series, though there’s every chance that the show will continue into a sophomore season should viewing figures reflect its appeal.

Those who like what the see from Powers can find the rest of the episodes exclusively on PlayStation Network. As a bonus to those with PlayStation Plus subscriptions, it’s understood that all episodes will be free of charge to members.

Powers, an edgy dramatic series, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?

Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the brave people in charge of protecting humans like us and keeping the peace over commercialized, god-like men and women who glide through the sky imposing their power over the mortals who both worship and fear them.
