If anything, the fifth season of Arrow was proof positive that a series can bounce back after experiencing a season that was deemed to be lackluster by many. Sure, saying such a thing may sound a bit brutal, but many fans expressed displeasure with too much focus being placed on the “Olicity” romance, in addition to bizarre narrative choices and a shift toward the supernatural in a show that had previously been more grounded than others occupying the Arrowverse.
Surprisingly enough, series lead Stephen Amell seems to not be as much of a fan of season 4 himself. While it’s not unheard of for some actors to criticize projects they’ve been involved with, there are those who can get quite touchy when it comes to such a thing.

When speaking at Heroes & Villains FanFest in New Jersey (yes, the same con where he teased a new costume to be worn in season 6), he actually ranked each season of Arrow to have aired thus far. Normally, you’d think this would be akin to choosing your favorite child, but here’s what he had to say:
“Season one, for sure. And then season five. And then season two. And then season three. And that’s it.”
Said to have followed up that with “I’m going to get in trouble for this,” it’s impossible to notice that he purposefully didn’t mention season 4. Personally, I thought there were some bright spots in the form of a badass new costume and great crossovers with The Flash and Constantine, but that’s just me.
Arrow returns for its sixth season on Thursday, October 12. In the meantime, feel free to tell us which season was your favorite in the comments section below!
