Stranger Things Season 2 Set Photo Teases New Character Mad Max

When it comes to television, few shows dominated 2016 as much as Netflix's Stranger Things did. Aside from just being very well made and executed, it introduced the world to a bunch of young actors who proved to be incredibly enjoyable to watch, and kept viewers hooked with some truly thrilling twists and turns that had everyone talking. It was a wild ride the whole way through, that's for sure, but it did leave us with a whole lot of questions and unfortunately, we won't be getting any answers for quite some time.

When it comes to television, few shows dominated 2016 as much as Netflix’s Stranger Things did. Aside from just being very well made and executed, it introduced the world to a bunch of young actors who proved to be incredibly enjoyable to watch, and kept viewers hooked with some truly thrilling twists and turns that had everyone talking. It was a wild ride the whole way through, that’s for sure, but it did leave us with a ton of questions and unfortunately, we won’t be getting any answers for quite some time.

That’s because the show won’t return for season 2 until October, and with security being amped up to prevent plot leaks, those hoping to find out some of the secrets in advance might be left disappointed. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t get a few goodies along the way, and one such thing has arrived this weekend in the form of a set photo. Admittedly, there’s nothing too revealing here, but we do get a look at new character Max (played by Sadie Sink). Or, “Mad Max,” as the title of the season premiere refers to her as.

We don’t know too much about the young girl just yet, but from what we’ve learned so far, we can tell you that she’s a “12-14-year-old female described as tough and confident and whose appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era.” What exactly’s made her so “mad” remains to be seen, but we’ve got a feeling that she’ll play a pretty big role in the events that take place this season.

Of course, Max is far from the only new character. There’s a whole host of fresh faces joining the series for its sophomore outing, including Linnea Berthelsen, who’s been cast as Roman, “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…”

The Goonies and Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin, meanwhile, has landed the role of Bob Newby, “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.” There’s also Paul Reiser (Aliens, Whiplash), who will take on role of Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year,” while Dacre Montgomery is set to play Billy, the overconfident step-brother to the aforementioned Max, who may or may not have something to do with the episode titled “The Lost Brother.”

So, it should be another very exciting outing for the show then, and while we don’t expect to learn too much more about the Upside Down and all the other mysteries presented in Stranger Things before it returns, a steady stream of set pics should continue to make their way onto the web in the coming months and once we have more, we’ll be sure to share.
