Supergirl Set Photos Confirm Mark Gibbon As General Zod

As we continue to live in a digital age, it becomes exceedingly harder for anyone to keep their cards close to their vest, especially if you work in the entertainment industry. When I was a kid, you'd have to wait to read about the latest buzz surrounding upcoming superhero productions until the newspaper arrived or in a magazine such as Starlog. These days, however, word can get out faster than an official announcement can be made, a recent example of which is a developing situation involving Supergirl.

When I was a kid, you’d have to wait to read about the latest buzz surrounding upcoming superhero productions until the newspaper arrived or in a magazine such as Starlog. You see, just last week, the Dex-Starr was let out of the bag (names of any prominent Kryptonian cats escape me at the moment, so you’re going to have to settle for the most adorable member of the Red Lantern Corps), and none other than Mark Gibbon was revealed to be playing General Zod.

Now, it’s entirely possible that such reports simply beat the network to the punch, but we can’t rule out it being a surprise meant to be saved for the season finale. Either way, there’s no going back and it’s time we brace ourselves for the arrival of one of the most dangerous villains the DC Universe has to offer.

Interestingly enough, Twitter user ThemysciraBound was able to capture a few shots of Gibbon in full Zod regalia right from the set. And, as you can see from the images provided, his attire does conform to what we’ve thus far seen from Kryptonian militants on this series.

In addition to those, some shots of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman were made available by the very same person, catching the Man of Steel attempting to keep his cape dry. Hey, it wouldn’t make sense if he didn’t show up to confront one of his deadliest foes, now would it?

Supergirl airs on Monday nights on The CW.
