New Supergirl Synopsis Teases A Trinity Of A Different Sort

When DC fans hear the term "Trinity," they tend to think of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, the three characters who've long been the publisher's cornerstones in a variety of media. Or, if you're an Arrowverse diehard, the likes of Green Arrow, the Flash and Supergirl may hold a similar place in your heart.

The reason we’re bringing this up is because the May 7 episode of Supergirl actually happens to be titled “Trinity,” but it’s not going to yield what one would necessarily expect. Rather, it has everything to do with those dastardly Worldkillers, as this newly released synopsis tells us the following:

SUPERGIRL TAKES ON ALL THREE WORLDKILLERS – Still reeling after learning about Lena’s (Katie McGrath) secret, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) asks Guardian (Mehcad Brooks) for a favor that could alter his relationship with Lena forever. Meanwhile, with all three Worldkillers united, Supergirl and the team brace for an epic battle. Caitlin Parrish & Erica Weiss directed the episode with story by Jessica Queller and teleplay by Caitlin Parrish & Derek Simon (#317). Original airdate 5/7/2018.

Granted, Kara is expected to undergo some intensive hand-to-hand combat training in the episode prior, but I won’t soon forget the beating Reign gave her in the midseason finale. Thus, I wonder how she’ll stack up against two additional Kryptonian brutes.

Of course, she’ll have some backup in this instance, just as the description hinted. I imagine that we can expect the Guardian, Martian Manhunter, Mon-El and perhaps even a couple members of the Legion of Superheroes to throw in this time around. Still, we’ve got quite a ways to go before June’s season finale, so don’t think this war will be over by any stretch of the imagination.

Supergirl airs on Monday nights on The CW.
