New Synopses Tease What Lies Ahead For Supergirl And Arrow

Even though we have a few days to go until some of our favorite DC TV shows return for the back half of the current season, we’re able to peer ever so slightly into the future now that more synopses are creeping online. Don’t forget, episode descriptions tend to make their rounds three weeks ahead of time, but thankfully don’t really spoil whatever episodes come before.

First, let’s talk about Supergirl.

On January 29, it looks as though the series may stray away from the Legion of Super-Heroes – at least for that week – and instead focus on a few other unfolding situations. For starters, we can expect the battle between Morgan Edge and Lena Luthor to continue. Even having been explored sporadically thus far this season, our guess is that this thread will somehow be woven into the greater tapestry before long.

Speaking of which, it appears that Sam will continue to experience a struggle within, as her Reign persona will seemingly come and go. In the past, we’ve stated that she’s somewhat comparable to Smallville‘s Davis Bloome/Doomsday insofar that she’s a reluctant villain, and that parallel is still holding true. Either way, seeing how this unfolds should make for some good TV.

Here’s the description for “For Good”:

MORGAN EDGE THREATENS LENA – Someone tries to kill Morgan Edge (guest star Adrian Pasdar) and he barely survives. He accuses Lena (Katie McGrath) of being behind the attempt and vows to destroy her. When Lena fears her hatred for Morgan will take her to the Luthor dark side, Kara (Melissa Benoist) steps in to help her friend. Meanwhile, after Sam (Odette Annable) realizes she’s losing time, she confides in Alex (Chyler Leigh) who decides to run some medical tests to see if she can find out what’s going on with her new friend. Tawnia McKiernan directed the episode with story by Robert Rovner and teleplay by Cindy Lichtman & Alix Sternberg (#312). Original airdate 1/29/18.

Later that week on Arrow, “All or Nothing” is a bit harder for us to forecast because that episode’s synopsis is decidedly vague and there are a couple of installments currently separating us from it. Regardless, we can confirm that the fight with Cayden James will intensify, and that Team Arrow will still probably be split down the center.

Here’s what you can look forward to on February 1:

OLIVER AND DINAH FACE OFF — Oliver (Stephen Amell) continues his battle with Cayden James (guest star Michael Emerson). Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) and Oliver have a major disagreement that endangers the life of one of their own. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Oscar Balderrama (#612). Original airdate 2/1/2018.

Supergirl returns with new episodes on Monday, January 15, with Arrow following on Thursday, January 18 on The CW.
