Synopsis Confirms Supergirl Will Team With Villains, Mon-El Finally Suits Up On New Posters

To this point, Supergirl season 3 has proven to be a different beast from its predecessor. Last year, we were given a science fiction tour de force as the series fully embraced its comic book roots, often feeling like a live action answer to Superman: The Animated Series. This time, however, the focus has been placed more on drama, perhaps in an effort to keep the show's budget in check.

Regardless, the back half of this season will still mine the DC well as much as possible, for we know that the Legion of Super-Heroes are set to make an impact upon the show’s return from hiatus. And, with that, Mon-El will finally suit up – only his costume isn’t quite accurate to the source material.

As you can see in the accompanying gallery, the network has offered up two new posters of the Daxamite: One providing a look at his new threads, and the other giving a closeup on his Legion ring. While being a far cry from what we’ve come to expect from the comics, it could be said that he looks kind of badass. Still, we can’t rule out fans flinging excess amounts of poo just as they did at the recently unveiled Brainiac 5.

In related news, the official synopsis for January 22’s episode, “Fort Rozz,” has surfaced. In it, we learn that Kara will be forced to form a ragtag team of sorts that’ll consist of both heroes and villains in the fight to take down Reign. Speaking of which, here it is:

SUPERGIRL TEAMS UP WITH SATURN GIRL, LIVEWIRE AND PSI – As Reign (Odette Annable) continues to terrorize the city, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) teams up with Saturn Girl (guest star Amy Jackson), and the two recruit Supergirl’s former enemies, Livewire (guest star Brit Morgan) and Psi (guest star Yael Grobglas), to form a team for a mission to Fort Rozz to recover a prisoner who has information on how to defeat Reign once and for all. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) babysits Ruby (guest star Emma Tremblay). Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#311). Original airdate 1/22/18.

Supergirl returns with new episodes on Monday, January 15 on The CW.
