The Walking Dead Season 8 Synopses Tease Heartbreaking Discoveries

When The Walking Dead returns at the end of the month, the midseason premiere will see the tragic fate of Chandler Riggs' Carl Grimes unfold, after he was bitten by a walker in the last episode. Following that, we've been told that the rest of the season will feature Rick having to plow forward with the war against Negan and the Saviors, despite his overwhelming grief at losing his son. Now, thanks to some new synopses, we have a pretty good idea of how the last few installments of season 8 will develop.

The brief summaries for episodes 12-15 obviously don’t give too much away, but they do tease some interesting twists and turns ahead. In particular, there looks to be some “unexpected visitors” who cause trouble when they arrive at Hilltop. Meanwhile, adversaries and old friends are confronted as some unknown “heartbreaking discoveries” come to light.

You can check them all out below, and don’t worry, there aren’t any spoilers to be found here:

Episode 12: “Hilltop’s leadership faces a difficult dilemma after the arrival of unexpected visitors; Rick comes face to face with an adversary.”

Episode 13: “Trouble arises when unexpected visitors arrive at the Hilltop and the community is thrust into action; heartbreaking discoveries are made.”

Episode 14: “A Heaps prisoner makes a discovery; Carol searches for someone in the nearby forest; Rick and Morgan find themselves in the company of strangers.”

Episode 15: “With the threat of the Saviors still looming, Aaron continues searching for allies; Daryl and Rosita take action and confront an old friend.”

That brings us to episode 16, the big season finale, which is expected to wrap up the “All-Out War” storyline that’s dominated the plot this year. It’ll also provide some resolution to the conflict between the Alexandrians, their allies and the Saviors that’s been going on since season 6.

Of course, we have tons of questions for the finale – Will Negan survive? What other major characters may die? – but naturally, the very short synopsis below doesn’t spoil anything. All it tells us is that it’ll feature a “last stand” as the two sides clash for one final showdown.

“The communities join forces in the last stand against the Saviors as all-out war unfolds.”

We’ve also been told that the second half of The Walking Dead season 8 will lead directly into Fear the Walking Dead season 4, not least in lining Morgan Jones up for his move over to the spinoff show, suggesting that the two series will be more connected from now on.

It’s time to finish the fight, folks. Season 8 of The Walking Dead returns with “Honor” on February 25th. It’ll be an extended outing, too, lending viewers the chance to savor Carl’s final moments before Chandler Riggs’ small-screen hero heads for the proverbial exit door.
