Over the weekend, Marvel fans rejoiced as the studio finally confirmed that they renewed Jessica Jones for a second season. Unfortunately, we weren’t given any details on what to expect, but already speculation has begun, and what’s got a lot of people talking at the moment is the future of Rachel Taylor’s character, Trish Walker.

As fans of the comics surely know, Walker eventually suits up and becomes Hellcat. In season one of Jessica Jones, we did get to see Walker channel her inner badass, but she never officially became Hellcat. Will the superheroine finally emerge in season two of Marvel’s hit series? We still don’t know, and probably won’t until the show returns, but Taylor did speak to IGN over the weekend about the possibility of it happening.

“I try not to get ahead of myself and think about it too much because it’s easy to get carried away and think about things,” said the actress. “You don’t want to count your eggs before they hatch. We just found out about the second season today and this is my first show that’s gone to a second season so I’m super stoked.

I already feel like I have more than my share, in a way, being on Netflix, being in the Marvel Universe, being on this show that has resonated so deeply with people. But, of course, it would be amazing! [Laughs] It’s already a privilege to play a history that has so much lineage within the Marvel universe and to take it that one step further, is something that, yeah… I’d love to get my teeth stuck into whatever happens to the character.”

A lot of people took a liking to Trish in season 1, and she became a definite highlight in what was undoubtedly one of Marvel’s finest productions to date. So, seeing her finally suit up as Hellcat would be pretty exciting and is something that would surely please fans. Taylor was fantastic in the scenes where she got to kick a bit of ass and seeing her go full out superhero as Hellcat is something that has us very excited indeed.

Plus, now that we know Netflix and Marvel are exploring spinoff series, given that they’re currently looking into handing The Punisher his own show, could we possibly see Hellcat receive the same treatment somewhere down the road? Time will tell, but we certainly wouldn’t be opposed to it.

Tell us, do you think Trish Walker will finally become Hellcat on Jessica Jones season 2? Sound off below with your thoughts.
