Luke Cage is the third of Marvel and Netflix’s Defenders series, and is expected to follow the second season of Daredevil in the second half of 2016. The show has assembled a very impressive cast of actors in recent weeks, and now two of them have been spotted on set, giving us a first look at the series’ villains as a result.
House of Cards star Mahershala Ali is Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes in the Netflix series, and he’s been described as a Harlem nightclub owner who will become an unexpected foe in Luke’s life when Stokes’ criminal activities threaten Luke’s world. Alfre Woodard (12 Years a Slave), meanwhile, is playing Mariah Dillard, a local Harlem politician – and cousin to “Cottonmouth” – who is looking to bring a new era of change to the streets she grew up on.
