Some international key art for next week’s return of AMC’s The Walking Dead appears to spoil a pretty major plot point that fans of Robert Kirkman’s source material are sure to be familiar with.  As you can see, the image features Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) with a covering over his right eye, strongly implying that he’s lost it.

In the comics, Carl is accidentally shot by Douglas Monroe (a character who was actually replaced by Deanna in the TV series) and not only loses the eye, but a good chunk of his face and some of his memory. Fans fully expected Ron to be the one to take the shot during his scuffle with Carl in the midseason finale, but they seemed to sort out their differences – at least temporarily.

There’s every chance the troubled teen will pick up the gun again, of course, but it’s just as likely to be a completely different character as The Walking Dead does like to shake things up a bit to keep even the comic book readers guessing.

Tell us, who do you think will take young Carl’s eye? Hopefully we’ll find out when The Walking Dead Season 6 returns to AMC on Sunday, February 14th.
