Wild Dog’s Co-Creator Doesn’t Care For His New Costume On Arrow

One thing that The CW's DC TV shows have become known for is that of their costuming. Sure, they may not always hit the mark when it comes to threads worn by various heroes and villains, but more often than not, what we see on the small screen looks pretty darn cool.

As to expected with any new season, several characters have already been granted some upgrades. Over on The Flash, Barry Allen finally got some new duds, while Arrow‘s latest Black Canary, Dinah Drake, reached a higher level of badassery with her awesome looking costume.

What none of us saw coming, however, was that another member of Team Arrow 2.0 would be receiving a wardrobe change of their own, that, of course, being Wild Dog. Originally introduced in season 5, his costume was rather accurate to what was found in the comics, even some as recent as Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye.

His new one, though, is his equivalent of a Jason X-style upgrade. I mean, I don’t hate it, but I have to be honest in saying that my brain first registered him as being Sportsmaster. And from the sound of it, the character’s co-creator, Terry Beatty, is none too thrilled, as he had this to say in a recent Facebook post:

“THIS, ladies and gentlemen is what the powers that be at the ARROW TV show have decided is Wild Dog’s new “improved” look. Yup — THIS is Wild Dog. Since the costume and name were all that survived from the comic book to begin with, this is now literally Wild Dog in name only. This change erases any trace of the original Collins/Beatty concept for the character. I would not be surprised if his name gets changed before too long, as well.”

Regardless of his heated opinion, Beatty showed class by giving credit to actor Rick Gonzalez:

“I will tip my hat to Rick Gonzalez, who I feel has done a fine job in the role and has a strong screen presence. I wish him luck in going forward with this and whatever else he does down the line.”

Arrow airs on Thursday nights on The CW.
