***I only recently had the chance to catch up with the new season of Jersey Shore, hence the lateness of this review. From now on we’ll be sure to provide reviews in a more timely fashion***

“I don’t go tanning anymore because Obama put a 10 percent tax on tanning. McCain would never put a 10 percent tax on tanning. Because he’s pale and would probably want to be tan. Obama doesn’t have that problem. Obviously.” – Snookie

And just when you thought Snookie couldn’t get more stupid, she goes and makes that comment about Obama and tanning. It may have been one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard anyone say.

That’s right folks, Jersey Shore is back for a second season and this year the crew is taking their shenanigans to Miami. Now that The Situation and Snookie have been established as the two most ridiculous people in the world, we’re ready to see more of their antics.

As the episode starts, we see the various cast members making the trip down to their new place in Miami. Along the way, Pauly D and an Ed Hardy-clad Situation get their truck stuck in a field and have to call AAA to tow it. When the AAA truck shows up only to get stuck in the field as well, it seems as if they may have a bit of a ‘situation’ on their hands.

As The Situation says, “who does AAA call when AAA gets stuck?”. The answer is actually quite simple, they call AAA. That’s right, another tow truck comes and rescues everyone and Pauly D and The Situation continue their trip down to Miami.

JWOWW and Snookie are also driving down and we seem them making a quick stop at a restaurant to eat. Although it doesn’t look like anything special at first glance, the restaurant does serve fried pickles which Snookie obviously goes crazy for. After she eats them she claims “eating fried pickles was a life changing experience.”

We are also treated to a few scenes that show the rest of the cast making their way down. We see Vinnie leaving his family at home, Ronnie hanging out with his boys getting ready to leave, Sam packing up her stuff etc. Eventually everyone makes it to the house. The house is pretty nice and is a lot better than their place from last year. It’s even equipped with a huge poster on the wall that reads “In Miami no one’s ugly after 2am.”

Pauly D and The Situation arrive first, and shortly after they get there, they are greeted by Angelina. Surprised at first, the boys don’t really have a problem with her being there and they actually let her room with them.

Although the boys are fine with Angelina, the girls are having none of it. They aren’t too happy to see her and throughout the whole episode they are constantly arguing and fighting. JWOWW gets a little too high strung in a cab ride later on in the episode and things get real heated between her and Angelina.

I’m not sure why Angelina would return, she knew there would be beef with the other girls. The Situation is loving it though. He says “I’m have [sic] my little sparkler in the corner and watch”. He’s definitely looking forward to seeing the fireworks between the girls.

Now that Ronnie and Sam are broken up, The Situation may go after Sam. He “may entertain that idea” as he says. Could they get together? I wouldn’t doubt it. Sam may do it just to get back at Ronnie. Speaking of Sam and Ronnie, their encounters this episode were awkward as expected and of course there is tension between the two.

Anyways, as the episode progresses and everyone reunites at the house, it eventually gets late and the gang decides to head out for the night. The newly named MVP (Mike, Vinnie, Pauly) team is out in full force at the club and the expected night of drunken debauchery ensues. Nothing really important to note here, it’s pretty much what you’d expect. Ronnie does get a bit crazy and he starts hooking up with Grenades. The Situation weighs in on what’s going on as he says “Ronnie’s at the club, hooking up with Grenades… that is a bigger-ugly-chick & also Landmines.. which is a thin-ugly-chick .. and um, lovin’ life. His name is Ronnie, but you can probably call him Sloppy Joe.” Well said sir, well said.

In conclusion, it was a nice way to start the season. It’s pretty much what you would expect but it’s still very entertaining. It was nice seeing all the characters together again and the return of Angelina is certainly going to provide for some interesting scenes in upcoming episodes.

It took a bit too long for everyone to finally get to the house and reunite but overall I still enjoyed the episode. We got to see some heated fights, a couple awesome lines and we learnt what a double bagger is. As Ronnie’s friend explains it, “Sometimes you gotta put a bag over your head, in case her bag falls off.” Interesting…..
