And so the summer has unofficially come to an end. Here are the songs that I found to be the most enjoyable of the season.

1.) Alejandro – Lady Gaga

Never was a Gaga fan until I saw the video for Alejandro, and I became hooked on the song and Gaga-ized forever. This song does something to me and I don’t care who knows it. If you haven’t seen the video, check it out here.

2.) The Suburbs – Arcade Fire

One of my favorite bands returned this summer with a fresh album for the masses, and this song kicks off the album the right way. Check out the song here.

3.) Power – Kanye West

Kanye is back and if this track is any indication, his album will be groundbreaking. Check out the killer video here.

4.) Love the Way You Lie – Eminem

Overall disappointed with Eminem’s latest album, but this track hits on so many different levels, it makes me forgive him for an otherwise lackluster effort. Watch the video here.

5.) The High Road – Broken Bells

Didn’t know much about this band, but I heard this song on the radio and became hooked. Just got the album, but haven’t had a chance to give it a full listening to yet. Either way, this song rocks. Check out the video here.

6.) Lisztomania – Phoenix

Just a crazy rock/dance song. Throw it on at the party just as the drinks have begun to flow. People will start dancing whether they want to or not. Check out the video here.

7.) Fuck You – Cee-Lo

This is one of those songs that really doesn’t need an explanation if you have heard it. Please watch the video here – it’s truly a fresh and catchy tune..

8.) Monster – Kanye West featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Nicki Minaj

Kanye West’s first offering on his ‘Good Fridays’ where he releases a track every Friday until Christmas. Well this one is damn good, and yet even more proof that Kanye is perhaps better than ever. Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj add stellar verses to round out this thus-far slept on song. Listen to the song here.

9.) Radioactive – Kings of Leon

Just released in what we will call the dog days of summer. Seems like Kings of Leon haven’t let the success go to them as they are still rocking with good new material. Watch the video here.

10.) Ready to Start – Arcade Fire

The only band to have two songs on the top ten, Arcade Fire’s entire new album is pretty tight, but Ready to Start is an amazing tune. Watch the video here

Arcade Fire

There you have it folks. Maybe not the best summer for music, but these ten were enough to keep the blood flowing and our love of music intact. Sorry everyone, but I just don’t like such songs as California Girls and they won’t make this list. Having said that, this is the most mainstream list I have ever made. If you haven’t had the chance to hear some of these songs, I highly recommend you check them out.
