In a move similar to when Lord Vader squared off against the likes of Killik and Nightmare in Soul Calibur IV, it has been revealed through the January issue of Official Playstation Magazine that Kratos will be bringing his god destroying violence to the MK universe. Those hoping to play through the story mode as the head tearing protagonist will be disappointed as he won’t be included in the game’s story line. That’s not necessarily a bad thing when you consider the awkwardness of fitting Yoda and Vader into the story of Soul Calibur, it seems like the smarter move. Kratos will however be given his own arena based on the God of War series, his own combat moves and his own gloriously violent fatalities.

There is no word yet on whether the Xbox will see one of the console’s main characters make his way into the other realm but Mortal Kombat doesn’t release until March so there’s still plenty of time for an announcement and speculation.  It does beg the question of who would star as an Xbox exclusive?

We’ve already seen one Xbox character appear in a beat em’ up when a female Spartan took on the DOA universe.

Most of the speculation seems to be pointing towards Marcus “scratch one grub!” Fenix facing off against Scorpion and co. but who do you think should be stepping up to represent the Xbox in Mortal Kombat? Are you happy to see Kratos and potentially another gaming character appearing in the new Mortal Kombat? Let us know in the comments.
