Hugh Jackman is stretching his chops again and this time with an original song written exclusively for the new theatrical version of Les Miserables, directed by the in-demand Tom Hooper.

We’ve heard Jackman belt out a tune before so it was no surprise that he was recruited as part of the A-List cast set to grace the screen for the update of this classic tale. What is surprising though is that the filmmakers have decided to give us an original song. How will fans of the play react to that?

Producer Cameron Mackintosh has confirmed the existence of a new song. The title of it will be Suddenly and the song will be a love song. It will be written by the team behind the original soundtrack for the stage show – Claude-Michel Schonberg, Alain Boubil and Herbert Kretzmer.

Les Miserables will be Tom Hooper’s first showing after his much loved Oscar film The King’s Speech and many are waiting with bated breath to see how it will turn out. With Jackman leading the way and Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Amanda Seyfried supporting him, I think we can expect something pretty special from this one.

Les Miserables is scheduled to hit theaters on December 7th and we’ll keep you posted on anymore news that surfaces.
