Steve Carrell is at it again and this time in the quaint comedy Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, co-starring the delightful Keira Knightley.

Following in line with the apocalyptic trend, screenwriter Lorene Scafaria makes her directorial debut penning this account of two neighbors in a race against an impending meteor to reunite with their love ones. Carrell’s character is seeking his high school sweetheart, while Knightley is looking for her estranged family.

The two embark on a road trip where they encounter a number of interesting characters played by Patton Oswalt (Young Adult), Connie Britton (American Horror Story), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine), and more!

The trailer features a three week countdown to the end of the world brought on by the asteroid Matilda. Carrell, with his typical charm, graces the preview with a taste of the dramedy that we can expect to see in the film and Knightley seems surprisingly comfortable in a role that we really haven’t seen her take on before.

Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World definitely has the appeal of a quirky indie flick but there’s also a hint of mainstream delight. Plus, the film’s comedic take on the ends of days is a refreshing change of pace. In my books, this one looks like a winner.

Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
