Although Clive Owens was originally slated for the lead role in Cities, due to a schedule conflict he has now been replaced by the hunk that is Dominic Cooper.

Cooper has been tearing up Hollywood lately, with his roles in The Devil’s Double and Captain America: The First Avenger, both released in 2011. This year looks to be even better for the up and coming star. He has parts in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Summer In February, Half Of A Yellow Sun, and Motor City all on his itinerary for 2012.

With his newest role in Cities confirmed, rumors are spreading that he might gracefully bow out of Motor City. Leaving Motor City will surely cause a bit of a commotion, but the solid story will hopefully attract another potential lead overnight. Gary Oldman has signed on as the villain and Amber Heard as the moll so either way, we’ll be getting a solid film, with or without Cooper involved.

Cities has some sound talent aboard with Kirtsen Dunst and Orlando Bloom starring. And then of course there’s the screenplay, which comes from the brilliant hands of Director Roger Donaldson and British TV veteran Glenn Wilhide, who have created an interlinking tale with three separate storylines that sounds like it’s going to make for a great film.

Check out the plot summary below.

A New York hedge fund manager (Cooper) chasing sex, money and power, a Mumbai cop investigating corrupt colleagues (one of whom is Kapoor) and their links to property speculators, and a young London couple finding it difficult to plant a foot on the property ladder. Dunst will play the character of Kate, in Owen’s storyline while Bloom’s role hasn’t been revealed, though we presume he’s one half of the London couple.

Cities is scheduled to beginning filming sometime in Spring 2012.
