Presidents and vampires seem like the most unlikely combination, yet Hollywood is hard at work making a movie about President Abraham Lincoln slaying vampires. The film is called Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (I’m dead serious) and it stars Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell and Dominic Cooper.
Up until this point no one was really sure what to expect from the film. Will it play out as a serious film about a man with a creepy past or will it simply be an excuse for a weird concept to come to life on the big screen, with honest Abe winking at the screen every chance he gets? Judging by the trailer it looks like the film will be playing it more straight-forward, which is kind of a surprise.
Director Timur Bekmambetov might just have a surprise summer hit on his hands, depending on how Fox markets it. At the very least the film could provide us with some awesome vampire kills, full of blood and gore, right? Or is that just too much wishful thinking?
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter opens in theaters on June 22nd, 2012.
