If you’re heading out to pick up your shiny new PS Vita, or you’ve already got yours, you’ve already got a new firmware update to download, which adds a number of new features to the already packed device.

The PlayStation Blog details the update to v1.61. In addition to fixing the content manager so you could actually run it on Mac computers, the update also adds the Map application to the home screen and the ability to take videos under the Photo application.

As usual, you can either connect your Vita to a wi-fi hotspot and update that way, or you can connect your Vita to your computer if you’ve installed the free content manager software and update it like a dinosaur.

We’ll have a full hardware review for you later this week, as well as reviews for a handful of launch games, so be sure to be checking back.
