The good folks over at JoBlo cut together a video featuring the biggest Oscar snubs of 2012. It’s actually very well made, with just about every single snub I can think of.

The more common snubs like Drive or Michael Fassbender‘s performance in Shame are featured as well as some ones that went under the radar like Attack the Block, Take Shelter, Senna, 50/50 and Warrior. I like that the video lists which categories the films should have been nominated for as it really helps you put the Oscars into perspective.

The show would have been so much better, even if only half of these snubs made it into the awards. Last night’s events were far from achieving, with Hugo and The Descendants being the only timeless films to take home some awards. How Terrence Malick‘s The Tree of Life didn’t get best cinematography is beyond me and not seeing Rise of the Planet of the Apes take home a visual Oscar is just baffling.

The only sure-thing we can learn from the Oscars is that they’ll recognize a black and white silent film as the best picture of the year, simply because it pays tribute to old Hollywood. The Artist is a good movie, just nowhere near as good as some of the other nominations.

Whether you agree with my opinions or not, I think it’s safe to say that this year’s Oscars were lacking the exposure of tons of remarkable films.

Check out the tribute below.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
