Kathryn Bigelow Finds Working Title For Osama Bin Laden Project

Kathryn Bigelow's untitled Osama Bin Laden project has finally found itself a working title - Zero Dark Thirty. Zero Dark Thirty is a slang term used by the military that means really early in the morning. They use it to describe the time between midnight and 4 a.m. when a soldier has to perform some crappy assignment. It is also the time that missions against difficult targets might take place to catch them off guard.

Kathryn Bigelow‘s untitled Osama Bin Laden project has finally found itself a working title – Zero Dark Thirty.

Zero Dark Thirty is a slang term used by the military that means really early in the morning. They use it to describe the time between midnight and 4 a.m. when a soldier has to perform some crappy assignment. It is also the time that missions against difficult targets might take place to catch them off guard.

The film will follow the efforts of SEAL Team 6 as they hunt down and eventually kill Bin Laden. Casting for the project has already been completed and set to star in the film are the following: Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, Harold Perrineau, Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong, Jennifer Ehle, Nash Edgerton, and Edgar Ramirez.

The hunt and ultimate killing of Bin Laden took place in Pakistan but production for the film has set up shop in Chandigarh, India to capture some establishing shots. It may not seem like a big deal, but not everyone is happy about it. A right-wing Hindu group is protesting the attempt to pass India off as an enemy nation.

That’s not all though, there’s more issues surrounding the project. A film with the same name is currently in production under director Paul Solet and rights to the title are up for grabs at this point. Whether Bigelow will end up settling on the title remains to be seen. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more!

Zero Dark Thirty will be released on December 19, 2012.
