Dr. Dre Says To Not Expect More Songs Like Kush on ‘Detox’

Just yesterday, we posted the first single off of Dr. Dre's much delayed Detox album called Kush. Dre spoke on it in an interview with Big Boy on Power 106. Apparently, just like previously leaked track, Under Pressure, Kush was also an unauthorized and unfinished leak, though it will be on the album.

Just yesterday, we posted the first single off of Dr. Dre’s much delayed ‘Detox’ album called Kush. Dre spoke on it in an interview with Big Boy on Power 106. Apparently, just like previously leaked track, Under Pressure, Kush was also an unauthorized and unfinished leak, though it will be on the album.

It got leaked, and it was a version of it that I wasn’t really happy about,” Dre explained. “But we’re gonna go ahead and push it and put it out, since everybody seems to like it. It’s about weed smoking, and I didn’t want people to think that’s what my album was about. This is actually the only type of song with that type of content on it.”

On the progress of the album itself, he says:

I see the finish line right now,” Dre added.  “I’m wrapping it up. I need about two or three more songs, and hopefully I’ll start the mixing process at the end of next month. From that point I’m about 30 days out. One of the reasons it was taking so long was because I felt like I was doing it more out of obligation as opposed to actually feeling it.”

It looks like we’re actually going to see this much anticipated album, though it’s gotten to the point where I won’t believe it until I have a copy in my hands since he’s been saying it’s almost finished for nearly a decade. But will ‘Detox’ be able to live up to the tremendous hype and expectations he’s built for himself  by constantly delaying it for so many years? Only time will tell.
