EW has brought us our first look at Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf in the upcoming film Lawless. Originally titled The Wettest Country, before stealing the title of Terrence Malick‘s next film, the upcoming John Hillcoat movie is set to debut at the Venice Film Festival on August 29th.
The duo above play “moonshiners in a family-run bootlegging gang that is threatened by authorities who want a cut of their profits.” Co-starring is an excellent supporting cast that includes Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska.
That cast alone is enough to get me into theatres but early buzz on the film surprisingly, hasn’t been too positive. Early cuts of the film were said to be somewhat disappointing but apparently Hillcoat has had some time to make some changes, so hopefully the final product turns out to be a film that is worthy of the cast supporting it.
