This totally caught me by surprise. The Lincoln Lawyer, a novel by Michael Connelly, is a great book, and certainly one of the better ones I’ve read. I heard rumors a while back that a movie was being developed for it but I had no idea it was this far into production and I was quite shocked to already see a trailer out for it. Not sure how this news escaped me.
Anyways, the film looks pretty decent. It has got a very solid cast and as long as they stick to the source material, this could turn out great. If you haven’t read the book, I highly suggest it. In fact, most of Connelly’s novels are pretty enjoyable, but The Lincoln Lawyer is certainly a stand out.
The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy, John Leguizamo, Michael Pena and Josh Lucas (yes we know, quite the cast). The film’s plot summary is as follows:
Mickey Haller (Matthew McConaughey) is a Los Angeles criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back of his Lincoln sedan. Haller has spent most of his career defending garden-variety criminals, until he lands the case of his career: defending Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe), a Beverly Hills playboy accused of rape and attempted murder. But the seemingly straightforward case suddenly develops into a deadly game of survival for Haller.
