Deadline is reporting that Jimmy Smits will be joining the cast of the upcoming fifth season of FX’s Sons Of Anarchy.
Smits, who has previously starred on shows like NYPD Blue and Dexter, will be playing “Neron ‘Nero’ Padilla, a Latino gang banger with an exit strategy who becomes a dangerous mentor for Jax (Charlie Hunnam).”
Being on either side of the law isn’t unusual for Smits’ characters; however, Nero will be staying away from the actor’s traditional suit and tie look, and has been described as being “heavily tattooed.”
Sons Of Anarchy will begin shooting its fifth season in May. With a few more major characters to be filled out for the upcoming season, we can expect some more casting news soon.
Sons Of Anarchy season 5 will premiere on FX on September 5th.
