Variety has revealed that Emily Blunt is currently in talks to join Tom Cruise in Doug Liman‘s futuristic war film All You Need Is Kill. The film is an adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka‘s manga comic and it’s being described as “a Groundhog Day-like conceit, in which a soldier (Cruise), fighting aliens, experiences a temporal loop that takes him back to the final day of his life.”

Blunt is being eyed for the supporting role of the soldier who fights alongside Cruise’s character. Apparently, Liman, Cruise and Warner Bros. have been interested in Blunt for quite some time. Furthermore, not only is Warner Bros. hoping to have her sign on to All You Need Is Kill, but the studio is also eyeing her for Rob Marshall‘s The Thin Man, which stars Johnny Depp.

I’ve always enjoyed Blunt’s work but I’m not sure All You Need Is Kill would be a good career move for her. The film would bring her a lot of exposure seeing as Cruise is starring but a sci-fi war take on Groundhog Day just doesn’t sound like it would make for a great movie. Plus, there’s also the fact that rapper T.I. is starring, which is another reason that I don’t have much hope for this one.

What about you? Do you think All You Need Is Kill sounds appealing?
