It has been confirmed that Lindsay Lohan will indeed be portraying Elizabeth Taylor in the biopic, Liz & Dick, which is being produced for Lifetime.

Rumors swirled around this casting choice back in January but now Lohan has officially signed on for the role. After a turbulent few years that sent her career crashing and burning, it looks like the high powers or “studio execs” have given her a second chance to prove herself.

This role may very well be just the thing she needs to start over and re-establish herself within the Hollywood acting community. Lohan started out as a promising young actress and definitely has the skills to succeed if she can suck it up and refrain from turning diva on set.

As for the film, it will tell the true story of Elizabeth Taylor and her romance with husband Richard Burton that was once called “the marriage of the century.” It was very much a Charles and Diana Hollywood-esque affair of sorts. They met on the set of Cleopatra, left their spouses, and enjoyed not one, but two marriages to each other.

Lohan should be able to tap into her fiery personality to pull off the role quite well. Plus, it will be nice to see her on TV for something other than a court appearance.

Production for Liz & Dick is scheduled to begin this June.
