Silent Hill fans, including myself, have made mention of problematic occurrences found in the series’ two most recent releases: Silent Hill: Downpour and the Silent Hill HD Collection. Both titles were enjoyable to play, but each one had at least one major issue. Thankfully, Konami has listened, because the company just sent out a press release regarding soon-to-be-released patches for both games. It states that Downpour‘s frame rate and audio syncing issues will be addressed, while auto-save problems will be dealt with in the HD Collection. Those fixes will be making their way to both consoles.
Last month, I sat down with the PS3 version of both games, and gave my honest thoughts regarding the content found on each disc. While it was enjoyable to head back to the creepy, fog-filled town, in order to deal with its nightmarish puzzles and disturbing history, my experiences were hampered by performance problems such as the ones mentioned above. If both Vatra and Hijinx Studios are able to fix those blights on otherwise good games, then it’ll be much easier to recommend them.
