Footage descriptions arrived on Twitter, with confirmation of its suitably spooky visuals and setting, alongside comparisons to the successful It duology. King adaptations have been coming thick and fast to theaters recently, with The Dark Tower, Doctor Sleep, Pet Semetary, and many others being pumped out since It‘s release.

Based off King’s second-ever published novel, it’s been noted by its author as one of his favourite works. The book chronicles a vampiric invasion of a small New England town, with self-insert main character Ben Mears who finds himself embroiled in undead treachery. The cast for the adaptation include Lewis Pullman as Mears, with Spencer Treat Clark and Makenzie Leigh both joining him.

Salem’s Lot was an inspiration on Netflix’s Midnight Mass limited series, alongside many other New England horror stories. King planned to make a follow-up to the 1975 book, but didn’t go ahead with it, favoring to continue his Dark Tower series.

A poster has also been released for the upcoming film, with no prizes for guessing how they’re promoting a King horror story in wake of the It.

The vampiric horror flick is set to release Sept. 9, directed by The Conjuring alum Gary Dauberman.
