2K Games has just announced that BioShock Infinite has been delayed from its planned October release this year and is now scheduled to launch worldwide on February 26, 2013.

Irrational Games’ Creative Director, Ken Levine, stated  “When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February.”

While the delay is certain to upset fans, it will likely do wonders for BioShock Infinite’s sales. October / November of 2012 is packed with several “AAA” releases (Black Ops 2, Assassin’s Creed 3, Halo 4, and Medal of Honor Warfighter to name a few). Getting some separation from the busy Holiday release schedule is nothing but a good thing.
