Capcom Is Re-Evaluating Its On-Disc DLC Plans

Through its official forums, Capcom has announced that it is reconsidering its downloadable content strategy. Through its official forums, Capcom has announced that it is reconsidering its downloadable content strategy. Following the launch of Street Fighter X Tekken, hackers discovered that the data for downloadable fighters was already on the disc, which Capcom later confirmed. A similar method was used for the DLC in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Capcom‘s senior vice president, Christian Svensson, told fans;

“We would like to assure you that we have been listening to your comments and as such have begun the process of re-evaluating how such additional game content is delivered in the future.”

It has been confirmed that several upcoming titles, including Dragon’s Dogma, will still have on-disc DLC, as it is too late in their development cycle to change anything.

Svensson ended the post by saying, “You are being heard,” but we will have to wait and see what future methods the company comes up with to distribute its downloadable content.
